  • The committee hasn’t met for some time.

  • Lloyd and Bridge Hannah won’t be back for the summer concert, their commitment to the Eastern Star ends in November.
  • Bob Eisenman couldn’t be here tonight; he had an interview.
  • We should try an ad in the Press for musicians again.
  • Yvonne said she would e-mail Andy Burke asking him to mention to the bands that we are available for students to play in.
  • Yvonne asked if we could be mentioned on the radio. Jim Gibson suggested KREY

Publicity – Herb Probasco

  • · Herb will send out a membership announcement.

  • Other publicity will kick in closer to the concert.
  • Hopefully we’ll have sponsors.

Uniforms – Yvonne McChesney

  • Hilary Valcho and Emily Johannessen have returned their uniforms. I am missing the paisley bowtie of Emily’s.

Website – Yvonne McChesney

  • E-mail addresses were fixed.
  • Yvonne hasn’t had time to put the budget on the she agreed to do.
  • She will put the minutes on the site and send out links to them and see if the hits to the site increase.

Music Directory – Vacant

  • The search continues.

Old Business

  • Bob E. is definitely leaving.
  • Jim Gibson called Bill Edmondson regarding band directors that he know. Those that Jim was able to contact wanted to stay retired.
  • Herb suggested that maybe Carl would want to come back.
  • Joe Reitz will be back on the 3rd of May and will contact Carl about the dinner.
  • Andy King will direct the summer concert. Lyle will talk to Bob Eisenman about Andy rehearsing us since he’ll be directing.
  • Herb said Bob wanted to look for the old tunes we have played in the library.
  • Yvonne asked if we are going to keep Lincoln Portrait. Consensus is yes, but it shouldn’t be played outside, it would be good for the fall concert.
  • Lyle filed the Annual Report online with the Secretary of State. If he filed in paper it would cost $100, online it only cost $10, he is donating the fee.
  • We have received the certificate of exemption from the state so we don’t have to pay sales tax for purchases for the band.
  • Lyle asked Jim to make copies of it to hand out to the board members.
  • Jim will contact Wal-Mart so it will be on file.
  • Herb said that Historic Downtown Montrose has paid to have the street closed for the July Main in Motion, we will be playing on the Courthouse steps.
  • Jim Gibson went the Valley Symphony Choral Concert and they had refreshments at intermission. That might be something we could do. We would need a sponsor to provide it.

New Business

  • Lyle has purchased a score for the Fall Concert
  • Lyle talked about classicalarchive.com where you can listen to and download music, $25 annually or free.

    • $45 Family
    • $1000 Lifetime
    • $50 Organization Membership
    • $258 for Organization BMI and ASCAP Licensing (if we ever have to charge for a concert we would have to pay this royalty fee.)
  • Herb motioned to join at the $50 level. Motion accepted and funds approved. It will be listed on the program and website. We will try it for a year to see if it is profitable to the band.
  • Jim mentioned that we needed to have our music selections for the summer concert.
  • The Electric sign at Demoret Park isn’t going up, the City is making new regulations regarding signage.
