Committee Chairpersons Reports
Finance & Fundraising - Herb Probasco
The Arts Council and Alpine Bank are sponsoring the Springs Concert
They will be mentioned in the publicity and on the website.
Grants: Herb contacted the Colorado Council of Arts the 1 st of March, there are different categories, one is special project and they can do challenge grants where the funds we raise are matched.
Something to think about would be a concert in Norwood, we could get a pledge from the location and rent a charter bus.
Other organizations to seek grants from: National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowments for Humanities. Some grantors would want us to be viable for several years.
Will approach Tri-State Employees for sponsorship again.
There hasn't been another fundraising meeting since the last board meeting.
Tom Kenning will contact other banks for donations.
Publicity - Herb Probasco
The Flyers are out
Lyle will be on KUBC on the 23 rd of March
Membership - Don Ludlow
Still gathering notes on all members
Who is the official band director?
Bob Eisenman has many offers elsewhere and may not be here for the fall concert
Jim Gibson mentioned that Bill Edmondson knows of many retired band directors
Keith and Martha Gilder will be back
Need to check on Andrew King and Matt to see if they are permanent members
Uniforms - Yvonne McChesney
One reversible vest was requested from Dawn
One pair of gray pants were purchased for Steve Nelson
Library - Joe Reitz
Joe will be gone all of April, Jim Gibson is willing to collect the music and take it home for collating.
Joe suggested getting open folders for the music instead of the envelopes which are not handy.
We have 66 different compositions in the Library
The topic of using originals came up again. If the concert is voluntary we can copy and use it. It is best to use copies, originals get beat up and lost.
JW Pepper and Sheet Music Plus let us try and return compositions
There is a lending library in Denver that we can contact
The Grand Junction Band is willing to share music
Yvonne said she would order Copland's Lincoln Portrait from JW Pepper
Herb suggested using Columbine Copy Center, he printed the membership books for free, worth $60
Jim Gibson said that Steve needed a part but the music was locked up at the High School
Joe and Lyle would both be handy to retrieve music if it was stored at the Zion Lutheran Church, at the HS there is no control
Joe will make sure the current scores are brought to rehearsal every time
Music Director
Who is authorized to approach people for that position? This position can be filled by two people, one in charge of the music and one to conduct the concerts. It is a lot of work in itself.
Yvonne reports that Lloyd Hannah has expressed an interest in conducting one concert but not do all. He wants to talk to the board first. He should be contacted for the fall concert.
Bob Eisenman may be able to conduct the Summer concert.
Empty Board of Directors Position
Dennis Weiss said he would be on the Board
Old Business
Regarding the Recognition dinner for Carl and Donna: we don't know when Donna will be back in town and have time. Joe will ask. Possibly the dinner can be in May.
Regarding a Phone Tree: we could have a quick meeting after the concert. It should be handled by section
The first rehearsal after the Spring Concert is April 10.
